Overview

A power backup system that uses multiple uninterruptible power supplies (UPS units) connected in parallel to provide redundant electricity to critical facilities. Each UPS receives power directly from at least two independent power sources—such as separate utility grids or generators—without active switching components between the sources and the UPS units. When one power source fails, the system automatically continues drawing power from the other source, maintaining uninterrupted electricity to connected equipment. The parallel arrangement of multiple UPS units ensures that if any single UPS malfunctions, the others can continue operating, creating layers of redundancy that go beyond typical backup systems where a single failure could cascade through the entire system. This approach is particularly useful for data centers and other facilities where even brief power interruptions cause significant harm.
