Overview

A power backup system combines multiple uninterruptible power supplies connected in parallel, with each UPS receiving power directly from two or more independent utility sources through automatic transfer switches and backup generators. When one power source fails, the parallel-connected UPS units continue drawing from the remaining independent sources to maintain uninterrupted power to critical loads. Unlike traditional systems with a single primary power source backed by one UPS, this architecture distributes redundancy across multiple simultaneous independent power inputs and multiple parallel UPS units, so failure of any single power source or UPS unit does not interrupt service delivery.
