Overview

A parallel uninterruptible power supply system uses two UPS units working together to drive critical loads, with each UPS connected to both utility power sources through switching mechanisms. This creates redundancy at multiple levels—if one utility feed fails, the system automatically continues operating from the other feed using both UPS units; if one UPS needs maintenance, the other can support the entire load alone. The key difference from conventional single-UPS backup is the cross-connection: rather than dedicating one UPS to one power source, each UPS can draw from either source via switches. This eliminates single points of failure in both power delivery and UPS equipment itself. The configuration is particularly valuable for data centers and mission-critical facilities where downtime is costly and maintenance must occur without service interruptions.
