Overview

A backup power system that intelligently manages stored energy reserves to keep devices running during power failures and prevent excessive generator cycling. When a primary power source fails, backup generators require time to start and reach full output—during which sensitive equipment needs continuous power. This system bridges that gap using a stored energy component (such as a battery or flywheel) monitored by a controller that measures energy levels against two thresholds. The lower threshold ensures enough stored energy exists to sustain the load while the generator spins up; the higher threshold prevents the generator from unnecessarily starting and stopping during minor power fluctuations. By distinguishing between brief voltage dips and actual outages, the system maintains power continuity while reducing generator wear and fuel consumption.
