Where it stands
TeraWulf plans to redevelop the former coal-fired Morgantown Generating Station in Charles County, Maryland, as the Chesapeake Data campus. The plan calls for about 800 MW of critical IT (1 GW gross data center load in two 500 MW phases, plus on-site generation and battery storage), with delivery targeted for 2030. FERC authorized the acquisition on July 29, 2026, but as of the latest filings the closing was still pending other conditions, and no data center capacity is under construction or in service. The existing ~210 MW is power-generation capacity at the plant, not data center capacity.
