Overview
An underground cooling system for modular data centers that uses geothermal heat dissipation instead of traditional air-conditioning or chilled-water systems. Rather than relying on centralized chillers that can become single points of failure, this invention places parallel cooling loops directly beneath the footprint of server containers, where they transfer heat into the surrounding Earth through a closed-loop circuit of heat-transfer fluid. Multiple parallel tubes run vertically in the ground to maximize surface contact with soil while minimizing land use. By completely containing the cooling infrastructure within each module's footprint, the design eliminates shared dependency points between containers, reduces electrical consumption compared to conventional cooling, and lowers operational complexity and cost. Each container operates its own independent geothermal heat sink, allowing them to be deployed in remote locations where traditional cooling infrastructure is unavailable.
