Stacie Olivares, age 47, joined Core Scientific's board in January 2022. In 2021, she was nominated by President Biden to the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (pending Senate confirmation). From August 2019 to January 2022, she served as a trustee of CalPERS, the nation's largest public pension with $500 billion in AUM and 2 million members.
Prior to CalPERS, Olivares served as Chief Investment Officer of Lendistry (March 2019–April 2020), a minority-owned CDFI and fintech lender. From October 2011 to January 2018, she was Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the California Organized Investment Network (COIN), a $29 billion ESG investment fund of the insurance industry. She worked at Morgan Stanley from 2008 to 2011, and before that led California's economic advisory board from 2002 through 2007 as it expanded from the nation's 6th to 4th largest economy.
Olivares serves on corporate boards of Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) and Mission Advancement Corp (NYSE: MACC), on nonprofit boards of the Latino Community Foundation and Hispanic Heritage Foundation, and on advisory boards for UC Berkeley's College of Letters & Science and the California Emerging Technology Fund. She holds a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley and an M.P.P. from Harvard University.
