John J. Lendrum, III (age 70) is a Director of Cipher Mining. Since 2015, he has been Non-Executive Chairman of Nuevo Midstream Dos, LLC, pursuing midstream projects in U.S. energy basins. As President of Torch Energy Advisors (2003–2013), he led exploitation and development of oil and gas properties and mid-stream assets. He was Vice Chairman of Resaca Exploitation, Inc. (2006–2011, listed on AIM 2008), and Director and Audit Committee Chair of BPZ Energy, Inc. (NYSE-listed explorer of oil and gas and power generation projects in South America).
Lendrum's earlier career included EVP and CFO of Torch (1987–1993), senior financial and business development roles at Torch-managed public companies Nuevo Energy Company, Energy Assets International, and Bellwether Exploration, and EVP and CFO of a private Midland, Texas oil and gas producer. He began at KPMG Peat Marwick (1975–1982). He holds a B.B.A. in Finance and completed graduate studies in Accounting Theory, both from The University of Texas at Austin.
