TeraWulf (WULF) Stock Could Be 32% Overvalued Despite Major Data Center Growth

TeraWulf stock has delivered a very large 3 year gain, yet its valuation checks now flag it as expensive, with both the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) intrinsic value estimate and the market multiple view pointing to an overvalued picture.

  • The share price has returned roughly 7x over 3 years, which sets a high bar for what investors expect the business to deliver next.
  • Long dated AI and high performance computing leases can support future cash flows, while the long ramp up period and execution on large data center projects may weigh on how much of that value the market chooses to price in today.
  • TeraWulf scores 0 out of 6 on the broader valuation checks, which suggests it does not screen as a clear bargain on this framework 0/6.

For investors, the debate is whether TeraWulf's recent gains and rich valuation signals are already factoring in the long term AI infrastructure opportunity or still leave room for further upside.

TeraWulf delivered 81.8% returns over the last year. See how this stacks up to the rest of the Software industry.

Does TeraWulf Look Pricey on Cash Flow?

The Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model estimates what TeraWulf could be worth based on its projected future cash generation. TeraWulf currently reports latest twelve month free cash flow of about $1.4b outflow, so the model assumes a recovery path where cash flows move from losses into positive territory over time. On that set of projections, the DCF points to an intrinsic value of about $12.38 per share.

That is below the current share price, which implies the stock is roughly 31.8% above the modeled intrinsic value and therefore screens as overvalued on this approach. The long term Anthropic high performance computing lease and Kentucky data center build out help explain why the market is willing to look beyond the near term free cash flow drag, but the current price already assigns a full valuation to those future cash flows.

On this DCF view, TeraWulf stock currently looks overvalued relative to the cash flows that are being modeled.

Our Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis suggests TeraWulf may be overvalued by 31.8%. Discover 51 high quality undervalued stocks or create your own screener to find better value opportunities.

Is TeraWulf Getting Expensive on Sales?

P/S is a cleaner way to look at TeraWulf right now because investors are mainly paying for its revenue base and future contracts rather than current earnings.

The stock trades on a P/S of about 49.3x, which is far above the US Software industry average of roughly 3.9x and also above the peer group average of about 20.9x. The fair P/S ratio implied by the model is 19.3x, which already reflects TeraWulf’s profile and risk, so the current multiple sits well above that level.

This gap suggests investors are paying a high premium for TeraWulf’s AI and high performance computing opportunity relative to both the sector and closer peers. The market is effectively pricing in a lot of future revenue today, even before those long term contracts fully translate into reported sales.

On the P/S multiple, TeraWulf stock currently screens as clearly overvalued.

The Bottom Line

TeraWulf screens as overvalued on both the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) intrinsic value estimate and the P/S multiple, so the current price already bakes in a lot of success for its AI and high performance computing build out. The low broader value score reinforces that this is not a clear bargain on the existing checks. What really splits the bullish and cautious views now is whether TeraWulf can convert its long term contracts and data center pipeline into durable revenue and cash flow without major execution setbacks. How confidently you answer that question will likely drive whether the current premium feels justified or stretched.

Leverage on its own is close to useless as a screen right now, because so much corporate debt was termed out at 2 to 3% and has not repriced. A business at three times leverage with nothing due until 2031 is in a completely different position from the same ratio rolling next year. Screen on weighted average maturity and the schedule behind it.
